Ensalada Fresca (Fresh Salad) At every family gathering there is always a simple side salad. Made with iceberg lettuce, canned corn and green beans, and sliced tomatoes. We wanted to create our take on this salad. Starting with a layer our avocado cream, heirloom tomatoes marinated in lime juice, handful of romaine lettuce, then topped with grilled onions and corn, grilled queso fresco, and a drizzle of local honey. Gluten-Free. Vegan option available.
Asopao de Camarones con Tostones (Shrimp and Rice Stew with Fried Plantains) This popular dish can be found all over Puerto Rico, especially when it rains. Potatoes, Rice, Fresh Shrimp, in a Puerto Rican style broth.Served with tostones, twice-fried plantain slices --a popular Latin American/Caribbean alternative to French fries. Gluten-Free.Vegan option available.
Pastelon de Carne (Sweet Plantain Lasagna) Growing up, this Puerto Rican version of lasagna was one of Luis's favorite meals. Patience is the key to make this meal, and the plantains have to be extremely ripped for their sweetness and buttery texture to shine. Deep fried plantains are layered with spiced ground beef and cheese. It's sweet, savory, rich, and the perfect combination of our flavors. Gluten-free. Vegetarian version available.
Arroz Con Habichuelas (Rice & Beans) White short rice cooked with a habana pepper for light flavor, topped with habichuelas rosadas (pink beans). This recipe comes straight from our grandmas kitchen. It would never be a complete meal at her house without rice and beans. We start our beans with a house made Sofrito, seasoning, calabaza, culantro, and let them stew for over an hour. Welcome to the family!
