In 2012, the Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition (AHRC) needed funds, but they did not have a strong supporter base. I proposed a unique fundraiser with a low ticket price that would attract a large audience of people who had never heard of AHRC. We transformed my home into a pop-up cafe, with coffee, a bar, and over 30 homemade desserts on the menu. Our volunteer waiters and bakers invited their friends to attend, and each year our numbers grew as delighted customers spread the word to their friends.
